Thursday 10/13/22 at 6:00 pm - Auditions 102 Live Masterclass
“Auditions 102: Beyond the Basics—Put it into Practice” is a live extension of our Auditions 101 virtual workshop where we covered where to find audition opportunities and how to prepare for them. You do not need to attend the workshop in order to participate in this masterclass.
In a masterclass, performers present their songs in front of an audience and teacher. The teacher then works with the performer, helping them improve their piece. The performer of course benefits from the 1-on-1 coaching. But the audience also benefits from watching the teacher coach the performer. Everyone learns!
During this masterclass, students will put their auditioning skills to the test. They will experience a mock audition with instant feedback and advice; something that doesn’t usually happen after auditions. This kind of feedback can be used to improve confidence when it comes to future auditions. Whether you apply to perform or simply observe as an audience member, you are sure to learn some useful tools for nailing your auditions!
This masterclass will be lead by Nicole Bartholomew, our very own Director of Operations and Education! As a vocalist and music educator, she thrives when she can instill a sense of excitement about music in her students, especially when that is music to which they’ve never been exposed. Nicole is music theory and contemporary voice professor at University of Miami. Holding a bachelors in vocal performance and a masters in ethnomusicology, she is a musician of wide-ranging interests and educational backgrounds. As an ethnomusicologist, Nicole is passionate about advocating for the musical and cultural practices of diverse peoples. She currently runs a private voice and piano studio in Miami and is a doctoral candidate working to complete her PhD in musicology from FSU.
