Changing a Bop into a ballad

step 1 - Change the key of the song

Not only can changing the key of a song help to best showcase your instrument, you’ll find that each key tends to convey a different emotional vibe. Makayla will change the key of the song she’s working on from G Major, to E Major.

Step 2 - Change the style

A simple way to quickly transform a song, is to change the feel / groove / underlying rhythmic pattern of that song. Why not make a ballad into a bossa? Pull from your repertoire of genres to help chose a groove that works best for you!

Step 3 - vary the melody

Now that you’ve created a whole new soundscape, let your creativity show by changing up the melody of the song. Pay attention to what emotion the lyrics are trying to convey, and emphasize words that are important to the message.
